Thinking about a career in life sciences recruitment but not sure where to start? This could be it. Barrington James is bringing its assessment day to our Raleigh office on September 22nd, a hands-on, one-day introduction to what working here actually involves, and a genuine route into your first role as a recruitment consultant.

Why an assessment day, and why now

The format was piloted in our London office, where it proved a far better way to meet future consultants than a standard interview ever could. A CV and a half-hour conversation tell you very little about how someone handles a live desk, a difficult call, or a target-driven month. An assessment day tells you a lot more, for both sides.

Raleigh is the natural next step.

"Our Raleigh office sits in the heart of the Research Triangle, one of the biggest life sciences hub in the country. Some of the most important work in modern medicine is happening right on our doorstep, and we place the people that make it happen."

That's the pitch, and it's the reason the office exists where it does. We place the people behind that work and we want to build the team doing it from the same ground up.

What's in it for you

Assessment days exist because they work both ways. You get an honest, detailed look at the role before you commit to it. We get to see commitment, initiative, professionalism and attitude in action, which tells us far more than a résumé.

"Those who show the right level of commitment, initiative, professionalism, and attitude will not only be invited to a final stage interview upon completion of the day, but some lucky few could even walk away with a job offer."

Candidates who demonstrate those qualities on the day will be invited to a final stage interview. Some may be offered a role outright before they leave.

If you're weighing up a move into recruitment, curious about life sciences as a sector, or simply want to know what the job is like before you apply for it properly, this is built for you.
