I came into the launch programme in August 2025 not fully knowing what to expect, but it very quickly became clear how much ground we’d be covering. As someone who came from a sales background and used to a fast-paced environment, nothing could prepare me for this. The learning curve was steep from day one, but that intensity laid a strong foundation and excelled my development far beyond anything I’d experienced before. What really sets the programme apart is the support system. Having access to experienced leaders who genuinely invest time in your growth makes a huge difference. On top of that you have your team who are all experiencing the same as you, which luckily for me were always on hand whether it was a quick question or a tough moment, there was always someone to guide me through it. With all sales roles you will have your challenges and believe me I have had my fair share already, but the opportunity and support that is given to you at Barrington James is like nothing I have ever seen before. If you can come in and turn up every single day (especially the days you don’t want to) the rewards here are endless.
What surprised me most about the Launch Programme was how much you learn in such a short space of time, especially coming in without any prior experience in recruitment. No time is wasted, and you are given responsibility early on. The training is integrated into the actual job, so you are constantly learning how to succeed while also being allowed to learn from your mistakes. One of the biggest skills I have developed since joining is learning how to manage candidate expectations and organise my desk in a way that keeps work coming in without dead ends. You always need to have things in the pipeline, and if you stay organised and keep on track, it pays off. A big part of that development has come from the support around me. The mentorship at desk has been a massive motivator, because your calls are listened to and managers are there throughout the day to help. That means you quickly learn what you need to improve on, and mistakes are picked up early so you do not make the same ones twice. For anyone considering applying, I would say recruitment is about hard work and drive. If you are motivated and willing to put the work in, this job can be life-changing. You are also surrounded by people who are similar in mindset, which makes you want to be in the office and keep pushing yourself.For me, progress since starting has come down to effort. The goals are very clear from the beginning, and if you do everything you can to achieve them, progress will follow. It is all about commitment and wanting to be the best.
